We’ve been updating the current Scarlet Witch Costume Study post – since it’s the most popular destination on this site – with updated, more accurate observations based on new photos.
Since some visitors only view the lastest posts, we thought we’d pull your attention to detail, specifically with Scarlet Witch’s bracers.
Left-Hand Bracer Detail
The one and two, above, clearly show a black ribbon looped through the zipper pull.
- Black flat satin ribbon, 1/8” wide
- Probably 5” long
- looped through the zipper pull
- knotted just below
NOTE: There is no photographic evidence, as seen in photo three and four, above, that a matching loop in on her right-arm bracer.
Bracer Seam Detail
We hadn’t noticed the first time around, but the first photo above sourced from Hollywood Movie Costumes clearly shows the bracer contains a seam, most likely on this inside.
Note: the photo above shows the seam on the outside, however, we’d bet serious money that whoever dressed the mannequin simply twisted the bracer to the incorrect side. All photos from the film show that her zippers are on the outside.
Without seeing where the zipper is from the first photo, it’s hard to know the position of this seam exactly, however, the third photo above shows the hint of a line on the inside of her arm, which could potentially be this seam.
Either way, the observations for this seam are:
- Appears to be a top-stitched inlaid seam
- Approx 1.5cm wide
- folded in edges
- top-stitched in possibly white thread or most likely black (think the lighting in the costume display simply ‘illuminated’ the thread, particularly if the thread had any glossy content)
Happy sewing/fabricating!
